What’s the first job that taught you real responsibility?
My first true lesson in responsibility came early in my career at Christian Dior’s headquarters on Avenue Montaigne in Paris, working in men’s tailoring and ready-to-wear. I wasn’t simply selling suits or styling clients; I was responsible for crafting an experience that reflected the heritage, quality, and elegance of a legendary couture house.
I worked with very high-profile clients who placed immense trust in us, expecting absolute precision, discretion, and uncompromising excellence. Each fitting demanded mastery of craftsmanship, careful listening, and accountability. That experience shaped my standards and instilled a lifelong respect for perfection—values that continue to guide me across luxury, leadership, and today, real estate.
What’s a decision that changed the direction of your career?
Born and raised in Paris within a family of executives in the luxury high fashion industry, I was immersed early in a culture of fashion, sophistication, discipline, and excellence. After a decade developing my skills at Christian Dior in Paris, I accepted a promotion that required relocating to Honolulu. In the late ’80s, this move felt significant—leaving family and the familiarity of Paris, embracing a new culture, mastering a new language, and stepping into a very different way of life.
At the time, Hawai‘i was not widely viewed as a global luxury destination, yet I immediately sensed its cultural depth, international perspective, and long-term potential. Being among the first to open Christian Dior stores in Hawai‘i, Guam, and Saipan required adaptability, humility, vision, and courage. It reinforced a lesson that has stayed with me throughout my career: Growth often comes from stepping beyond what feels comfortable and trusting your instincts.
After nearly four decades in the highest tiers of the luxury industry, I recognized another moment for change. In a fast-evolving world, values and responsibilities shift quickly, and there comes a time when you must decide whether to compromise what defines you or carry those values forward into a new chapter.
Transitioning into real estate allowed me to bring everything I had learned—professionalism, market insight, client advocacy, and excellence—into work centered on human connection and place. It has been one of the most rewarding decisions of my life.
How do you handle pressure when the stakes are high?
Pressure has been a constant throughout my career—from leading luxury operations at LVMH such as Christian Dior, Fendi, Louis Vuitton, and Versace, to working directly with senior corporate leadership, managing teams, and navigating demanding markets.
Over time, I’ve learned that preparation turns pressure into control. When you anticipate challenges and plan thoughtfully, what feels stressful becomes an opportunity to focus, act decisively, and lead with intention.
I also remind myself that behind every situation is a person. Listening carefully, staying calm, and acting with professionalism and integrity allow confidence and insight to emerge, even in demanding moments. When approached thoughtfully, pressure is not a barrier but an opportunity to inspire trust and deliver meaningful outcomes.
What’s one thing you want to be known for outside of work?
While I remain deeply connected to my French roots and appreciation for sophistication, life in Hawai‘i has profoundly shaped who I am. None of this would have been possible without the warmth of the people of Hawai‘i, whose welcome inspired me to make this island my home. From the moment I arrived, I was embraced with generosity, kindness, and a genuine sense of belonging. That spirit of Aloha instilled in me a strong desire to give back.
For over a decade, I was honored to serve as Co-Founder and President of Hawaiʻi European Cinema. It became my way of sharing my cultural heritage by bringing the best of European cinema to Hawaiʻi and creating a bridge between Europe and the islands through storytelling and art. Our annual awards gala at the iconic Moana Surfrider in Waikīkī evolved into a celebrated red-carpet evening, blending artistic excellence, international glamour, and the inclusive spirit of Hawaiʻi.
Beyond professional achievements, the unwavering support of my wife, Marisa, an accomplished luxury real estate broker and true partner through every transition, and the pride I feel in my son, Seishu, whose dedication to the medical field reminds me of what truly matters, keep me grounded. Surfing the ocean, sharing simple barbecues with friends and family, and watching the sunset continue to shape how I live, work, and connect with others.
What’s a daily habit you can’t live without?
Starting my day with a workout is non-negotiable. Every weekday, I wake up at 5 a.m. and dedicate time to my body and mind—no phone, no distractions. My routine alternates between strength training and a 10K run.
This time is more than exercise. It clears my mind, sparks creativity, and helps me find solutions. By the time I finish, I’ve already accomplished something meaningful for myself and can approach the day ahead with focus, energy, and balance.
