Who inspires you?
Throughout my life, I’ve been inspired by women in leadership who have uplifted, encouraged, and believed in me. These women modeled what it means to lead with purpose, to collaborate with generosity, and to advocate for others with courage and compassion. Their belief in my potential often came at moments when I needed it most—and their impact continues to shape the way I strive to lead and support others today.
One moment that has stayed with me came years ago when Kimberly Miyazawa Frank encouraged me to meet with Noriko Namiki as I was considering a career transition. During that conversation, Noriko shared a simple yet powerful piece of wisdom: “Know your worth.” Three words that resonated deeply then and remain a quiet compass, guiding both personal and professional moments.
That truth—spoken with intention and clarity—reminded me not only of my value, but of the responsibility we each carry to recognize and affirm the worth in ourselves and in others. It’s this kind of inspiration rooted in authenticity, strength, and grace that continues to guide me.
If I could share wisdom with my younger self, what would that be?
If I could share wisdom with my younger self, I would begin with this: Be kind to others, and to yourself. Life will bring its share of joys and challenges, and through it all, you’ll need both compassion and community. Remember that we are all doing our best, and a little grace can go a long way. Take time to notice the beauty around you whether it’s in nature, in a quiet moment, or in a simple act of connection. Pause at the end of each day to reflect on what was good, however small. Learn to forgive mistakes—yours and others—and allow yourself to begin again with gentleness and courage.
Above all, know your worth. There will be noise—doubt, comparison, criticism, fear. Don’t let it drown out the truth of who you are. You are enough. You always have been. Believe in your potential, even when the path isn’t clear. Trust that you are here for a purpose, and that your presence matters more than you know. Lean into hope, lead with kindness, and never stop growing.
What are three words that define who you are?
When asked to choose three words that define who I am, the first that come to mind are faith, hope, and optimism. These values are more than just ideals. They are the lens through which I view the world and the foundations from which I lead and live. Faith grounds me; it reminds me that even in uncertainty, there is a greater purpose unfolding. Hope fuels my belief in possibility and the power of potential in people, in communities, and in the future. Optimism allows me to meet challenges with resilience and courage, always looking for light even in the most complex or difficult situations.
What has been your greatest triumph?
How fortunate am I to do the work that aligns so fully with my passion and purpose? Each day, I have the privilege of serving a mission I believe in deeply alongside people who are just as dedicated to the vision of La Pietra – Hawai‘i School for Girls as I am. To lead a school that empowers young women to lead lives of purpose, and to witness their growth, curiosity, and courage each day is nothing short of a triumph.
Being the Head of School represents the culmination of years of learning, leading, and growing and it’s a reflection of those who believed in me along the way. But more than a personal milestone, this triumph is shared. It’s found in the collective commitment of a team, a community, and a school that dares to dream boldly for its students and the future they will shape. To do meaningful work in a place that honors connection, purpose, and possibility—this is my greatest triumph.
