If you could swap jobs with anyone in the world for one day, who would it be and why?
When I was young I wanted to one day volunteer for the Peace Corps to experience the passion of being of service in such a grand way. So I would say to swap and be a volunteer in the Peace Corps.
What inspires you or is most exciting about your job, business, and industry, and what are the biggest challenges?
What inspires me the most about my job is creating items that tell a story, from a memory, thought, or vision. The business and industry IS an additional inspiration with its continual motivation to step out of one’s comfort zone and fearlessly create art from within.
The biggest challenge would be:
Filling the demand without compromising.
What were some important turning points in your career that helped you attain your current position?
Without hesitation it would be the mentors in my life, and their words of wisdom, and the amazing work with, “my team.” Without them, there would be no magic, just an idea in my mind waiting to come to fruition.
What’s your go-to song or playlist that gets you motivated for a busy day?
“Oceans by Hillsong” is always a fabulous start to a busy day, but I do love a good mix following that; “Me & U” by Tems, Sade & Adele, C & K, Amy Winehouse, Manoa Co., Andrea Bocelli, Erik Clapton, Josh Tatofi, Chet Baker, Latin Kings, Barry White, Fleetwood Mac, Luther Vandross, La‘amea Paleka, Spandau Ballet, Keali‘i Reichel. My list is endless.
In a workplace that demands your utmost:
Attention to detail is always what drives Me in everything I do, it’s a daily practice.
What do you do for self-care?
Self Care for me is family. The beach is the place I go to ground myself to ‘ãina, soul and spirit, usually with my daughter. It’s rejuvenative like nothing else. Daily meditation, yoga, walking, and gratitude journaling are all my saving graces as well. If I don’t make the time for all the above, I would lose myself.
If you could relive your life again, what’s something you would change?
More time with my parents. Although we were a very close family and spent tons of time together after losing both of them at different times in my life. If I could go back, that’s what I would change. We all think we have time, but we don’t, not nearly enough.
What’s one moment that you wish you could rewind and replay 100 times?
The birth of my daughter, Jade.
What chance encounter changed your life forever?
I met John Travolta at the family and friends screening of Pulp Fiction, and shortly after that began working for him at his production company for many years. The things I learned from that experience and being a part of it changed and shaped my life in ways I cannot put into words or define other than BLESSED.
How do you use your voice, heart, and platform?
By supporting those less fortunate in our community and around the world in various endeavors, committing to sustainable practices.
