If you could swap jobs with anyone in the world for one day, who would it be and why?
Something connected to the ocean—my first love. If I could spend the day as a marine photographer for National Geographic or studying the ocean like Sylvia Earle, my heart would be truly happy.
What inspires you or is most exciting about your job, business, and industry, and what are the biggest challenges?
Bringing our islands closer to a sustainable future. We are fortunate to live in an extraordinary place, surrounded by unique and delicate ecosystems. If my daily efforts contribute to sustainability, I wake up each day feeling motivated and inspired.
One of the biggest challenges in managing our statewide distribution company and sales team is balancing travel with home life. I often spend several days a week off-island, meeting with clients or supporting our sales representatives. With a toddler at home, this can be difficult, but I’m grateful for the incredible support of my husband and family.
What were some important turning points in your career that helped you attain your current position?
Before Covid-19, our growth was so rapid and organic that I never took the time to analyze market segments and develop targeted growth strategies. Coming out of the pandemic, we significantly restructured our sales team and strategy, and my role evolved into business development—a stepping stone to my current position as VP of Sales. Looking back, as challenging as Covid-19 was, it ultimately made us a stronger organization.
What’s your go-to song or playlist that gets you motivated for a busy day?
It depends on the day and what meetings lay ahead of me, but I lean into either 90s rock (Nirvana, Alanis Morrisette, Foo Fighters) or 90s/2000s rap (Eminem, Biggie, Tupac).
In a workplace that demands your utmost, what do you do for self- care?
This is an area where I’m still working on improving, but I’ve been trying to set aside one day each quarter just for myself. Whether it’s a beach day with a book or a relaxing pedicure and facial, I’m making an effort to prioritize “me time.” I also end each day with reading—it helps me clear my mind, reset, and wake up refreshed and ready to take on the day.
