What inspires you or is most exciting about your job, business, and industry, and what are the biggest challenges?
What inspires me most is the opportunity to create a meaningful impact on people, buildings, and communities. In our work, we get to breathe new life into aging structures, ensuring they’re safe, beautiful, and functional for years to come.
I love seeing a project transform not just physically but in the way it uplifts the people who live and work in those spaces. On the business side, I’m energized by finding efficiencies, uniting teams around a shared goal, and helping individuals grow into their strengths. Watching people and processes evolve together is incredibly rewarding.
The biggest challenge? Balancing progress with patience. In construction, especially on occupied buildings, every project involves layers of complexity, unexpected conditions, and the need to work around people’s homes and lives. It takes a high level of coordination, communication, and care to get it right. Managing that while keeping quality high and timelines on track is no small feat—but it’s one we’re proud to take on daily.
What were some important turning points in your career that helped you attain your current position?
Joining Seal Masters in 2014 as an Executive Assistant was the first of many pivotal points in my career. I quickly realized that construction was a field where I could apply my natural strengths—problem-solving and helping people work more effectively together. From there, I was given the opportunity to grow into roles like Project Coordinator, Estimator, Project Manager, and Director of Operations. Each position gave me a deeper understanding of our business and the people who make it run.
But what really propelled me forward was having leaders who believed in me and a team willing to teach and collaborate. I learned that leadership isn’t about having all the answers but about building trust, adaptability, and lifting others. Those experiences shaped how I lead today as Chief Operating Officer.
What has been your greatest triumph?
My greatest triumph has been growing into a leadership role—ultimately becoming Chief Operating Officer—while raising three young children, including 7-year-old twin boys and a 5-year-old daughter, all of whom are active in sports and full of energy. Balancing the demands of a fast-paced construction career with motherhood hasn’t been easy, especially while living 4,000 miles away from my hometown and support system. But it’s also what’s made the journey so meaningful.
Learning to lead at work while still showing up fully for my kids has taught me resilience, time management, and the importance of being present wherever I am. I’m proud of the example I’m setting—for my team, my children, and other working parents navigating their own version of this balance.
Do you believe people are at the whim of destiny, or can they create it themselves?
I believe everything happens for a reason, but we all have a responsibility to shape what comes next. Destiny isn’t something that just unfolds on its own—it’s driven by hard work, ambition, and the purpose you bring to your life. We all come from different backgrounds and have different stories, but what we choose to do with those experiences is what truly defines us. I believe we each have the power to create something meaningful, even in the face of uncertainty. It’s not just about where you started—it’s about what you decide to build.
In a workplace that demands your utmost, what do you do for self-care?
For me, self-care means unplugging and spending time at the beach with my kids. Being near the ocean, watching them play, and soaking in that time together helps me reset and re-energize. It clears my mind, puts things into perspective, and sets me up for a productive week ahead.
